Welcome to the New and Improved, Reinstated, Much-Better-Than-We-Used-to-Be version of the Showcase Carnival (of New Blogs), featuring offerings from blogs less than three months old. Thanks, as always, to Pet of Pet’s Garden Blog for letting me co-host, and to the Blog Carnival Submission Page for giving us the space to promote and take submissions for the carnival.
This week, we’re taking a trip through the sideshow. No Carnival would be complete without a sideshow filled with “celebrity” personalities. Let’s take a look at who’s on display:
The Beernut Gallery (A for naming) offers an excellent description of “Vanilla Latte Guy.” This one takes top place for two reasons: 1. It made me laugh, and 2. It made me rethink my coffee ordering preferences. (Yes, I’ve been known to consume the Vanilla Latte. No, I didn’t have whipped cream on mine – though full disclosure makes me admit I have thought about it.)
Tiffany from Writing Career Coach tells us a little about herself in “Lesson learned and how I got here.”
Celebrity News and Gossip explains a little about “The History of Celebrity“
Tony at Tuesdays recently had jury duty. Between Diane Sawyer, blocked Internet access (whooops, make that only blocked blogging access…) and the occasional overheard conversation, it sounds like he had an interesting day. For the record, Tony originally submitted a slightly different post than the ones I’m opting to showcase. Why the change? Because these show Tony doing what he and his blog do best. Enjoy!
The Great Money Challenge explains “How I Would Live on Minimum Wage.” Worth considering, no matter where you stand on the minimum wage debate.
From Money and Personal Finance, we have an offering on “Budgeting” that might be useful to anyone trying to live on the income levels Money Challenge is discussing. Looks like a personal finance twofer.
Systems Overload asks, “What are you giving up for Lent?” (Answer: not the chocolate eggs you’ve got so beautifully pictured on your blog…) and suggests this might be a good time to try out some changes and improvements you otherwise might have passed over. And yes, SO isn’t actually a “new” blog – it started in September of ‘07 – but blogger Darryl requested that we overlook the Overload’s somewhat older status in light of the fact that he just discovered the Showcase Carnival about a week ago. (In answer to the question: we overlook a lot of things around here…I think I can turn a blind eye to the expiration dates this time.) Welcome, Darryl!
Thanks to all the new bloggers for submitting articles and offerings.
The next edition of the Showcase Carnival will appear at Pet’s Garden Blog two weeks from today. Want your blog to appear in the Showcase? The rules are simple: your blog must be less than three months old (Yes, I check, and you’d better have a good excuse – or one that makes me chuckle – and a very, very good entry if you want me to include a blog that’s older). Hosts do have the discretion to refuse entries that violate their style sheets (Read: if you cuss a lot or violate copyright law, don’t expect me to link you) or which their readers might find offensive. That said, submit your entry at the Blog Carnival, and here’s hoping I see you at the showcase!
