Re: ?!?!?!?!?
What were they thinking? On second thought, please don’t tell me. I probably already know.
For those reading after the link mercifully expires: A Chicago hive of scum and villainy law firm recently put up a billboard reading: “Life is Short – Get a Divorce” – along with the name and contact information of the firm (who, presumably, one should use to obtain said divorce in what is doubtless the most economical of fashions…). In an appeal to the potential client’s higher instincts, the billboard also featured large photos of scantily clad male and female torsos (Divorce for this! No identity required!).
Proving that not everyone in Chicago lacks a sense of decorum (not to say morality), city workers tore down the sign within a week after learning the attorneys failed to obtain necessary permits for the sign. According to the story, the problem wasn’t the photographs but rather the message which city workers found offensive. Even other lawyers objected, claiming the sign “reflected poorly” on the legal profession.
The Shylocks shysters solicitors in question expressed displeasure at the city workers’ decision to remove the billboard, claiming removal of their “art” violated their due process rights. One of the attorneys even claimed the city’s action made him feel “violated.”
Permit me to take this opportunity to respond from our side of the mountain.
To the city: Nicely handled. I hope you didn’t *cough* accidentally break the sign beyond repair while taking it down. That would really be a crying shame.
To the unmentionable law firm who shall remain nameless: Life is short. Get a clue.
