(…and Feral Cows come from California…)
On the way to Southern California last weekend, The Random Family passed a herd of cows grazing contentedly on a hillside.
As we passed, Yak the Younger looked out the window and asked, “Does someone own those cows?”
The Random Spouse and I exchanged glances, and before I could deliver the planned response (”No, son, those are Free Range Cows”) TRS’ laughter alerted the child that something might be up.
“Don’t laugh at me,” he responded indignantly, “I thought they might be feral cows.” (Actually, he pronounced it “furral”but we need not go there.)
Feral Cows.
Ponder that one a moment. Feral cows stalking through the California foothills.
I dare you not to laugh. (I know I did.)
The trip down I-5 will never be the same again. And if you’re driving through central California, I have just onepieceof advice: Watch out for those feral cows.

I’d be more concerned about some feral bull, urm, roaming…
BTW, I just used dictionary.com to check: yeh, some folks apparently do pronounce it that way. Fo gigure.

Furral? Yikes. Feral I’ve heard (hard ‘e’), along with something that sounds like “fairal” – but “fur-ral” was a new one to me. At least without the “re” on the front end…
