CNN has continuing coverage of the developing story out of Virginia Tech.

As of noon PST, CNN is reporting a lone gunman has killed at least 21 people on theVirginia Tech campus – though the Associated Press is reporting that 31 people have died. The gunman is also dead, though whether at his own hand or that of police appears uncertain at this time.

Reports list 29 others as “injured” – some in critical condition.

According to CNN, Virginia Tech cancelled classes on Friday due to a bomb threat, but considered the campus safe for classes again this morning. Given that the shootings began in a dormitory and not in a classroom building, the events may not be related.

We will keep an eye on the situation and update as more details become available. In the interim,please prayfor everyone impacted by this horrific set of events. At least 21 families (and probably many more) have been irreparably harmed bythe gunman’s actions. They may never know the reasons for his deadly rampage, and even if they do learn the truth it will not erase the loss or suffering they must now endure. There is a time and a place for anger, outrage and fear – and I doubt any parent hearing of today’s events will not feel some of each – but first let there be a time of prayer, that God will help the parents, siblings, relatives and friends of the victims – living and dead. May His grace and mercy be an anchor through the days ahead.
