A Farewell to Ford

Filed under: News Yaks — Random Yak @ 1:43 pm on December 27, 2006

For those who did not know: Former President Gerald Ford passed away last night at the age of 93. Not a bad run, particularly when you considerthe statement his wife made after news of his death reached the media:

“His life was filled with love of God, his family and his country.”

I can think of no greater legacy, and won’t waste space with anything of my own (particularly since others – many linked below – have already offered more or lesseverything I could have said).

Reactions around the ‘net:

Jay Tea at Wizbang calls Ford the “genial, amiable elder statesman” and praises his ability to leave the limelight (and refrain from criticism of his successors) and to honorably uphold both the office of the Presidency and that of Former President.

From Don Surber: Ford was never sorry that he pardoned Richard Nixon. Nor should he be.

Collected reactions from the MSM and photos of the failed assassination attempts on Gerald Ford over at Michelle Malkin’s place.

Captain’s Quarters eulogizes the “Accidental President” and has a link to the statement by President Bush

A discussion of SNL’s long history with Former President Ford, along with a collection of statements by political and news sources is posted atOutside the Beltway.
