Tuesday Reading List and Midweek OTP

Filed under: Random Linkfests, Random Observances — Random Yak @ 5:32 am on November 14, 2006

I get good feedback from these “reading list” posts. I’m not sure whether to be pleased or concerned that some of you actually trust my judgment when it comes to suggested reading material, but as The Yak’s Big Book of Ambiguous Situations says: “When in doubt, take it as a compliment.”

Here’s your suggested Tuesday reading:

1. On Friendship:David atthird world county has a friend – and explains what it means to be one.

2.On Solving the Problem by Redefining Reality: One of the better posts of not just the day but the entire week. Villainous Company takes on Pelosi and the entire revisionist wing of the Barking Moonbat Brigade.

3. On Christmas:Get a head start on Christmas shopping and help a worthy cause. Personalized ornaments, proceedsto benefit “Operation Phone Home,” a program that gets prepaid phone cards into the hands of men and women in the US armed forces. Details (and images)at Pet’s Garden Blog.

4. On World History – In Advance: Don Surber discusses therecent Iraniandeclaration that Israel’s days are numbered…and acknowledges that John Bolton may also be looking down the short end of a shorter employment status.

5. On Darth W and His Stormtroopers of Catnaps: Go to The Right Place.

6. On Christmas Music: Cigar Intelligence Agency reviews the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It gets the nod today because TSS has long been Yak the Younger’s absolute favorite Christmas music. He owns almost all of their CDs (and gets no flack for playing them at high volume at any time of year).

This is also your Midweek Open Trackback Post. Link and trackback now through Thursday night. You know The Rules. Knock Yourselves out. Linked to Linkfest Haven.

  1. Immigrant Organizations Denounce New Citizenship T…

If the citizenship test is hard, that’s the price that immigrants must pay to become citizens of our country. If “many Americans” can’t pass the same test, it’s an indictment of our public schools, not an indication that it’s “too hard”….

  3. Sidenote: I thought for a sec that y’all had added a favicon for your blog, but on closer inspection I saw it was just Opera gussying up my addressbar. Send me a Yak-ish graphic and I’d be happy to send you back a usable favicon.

  11. Uh, ok. *Momentary pause to check the dictionary* I’m assuming a favicon is the icon that takes the place of the “E” (yeah, I still use Explorer). Actually, it would be great to have one. I’ll work on getting you an appropriate icon.
